American Standard Reviews & Buying Guides

American Standard is well known a global manufacturer of HVAC units. They offers an efficient variety of central air conditioners in different tonnages at competitive prices. The prime focus of American Standard Air Conditioners is cost-efficiency, and affordability.

As part of Trane Air Conditioning Company, American Standard have outstanding reputations in the HVAC industry. Their AC units feature a range of SEER, good customer service, an excellent warranty claiming system, and convenient repair and maintenance methods.

American Standard manufacturers air conditioners and other HVAC equipment mainly for residential but American Standard also makes light commercial HVAC equipment. Their air conditioners range in efficiency level from 14 SEER to 22 SEER giving the American Standard air conditioner one of the highest efficiency ratings in the HVAC industry for air conditioners.

American Standard air conditioners also come in a variety of configurations. From the standard split system air conditioner to the package unit air conditioner. They have either gas heat or the heat pump configuration.

American Standard AC Features

In this section we’ll describe on some of the key features and the performance of the American Standard Air Conditioner.

American Standard air conditioners offer 3 different product lines. The Silver Series, Gold Series, and their top line, the Platinum Series.

American Standard Silver Series Air Conditioners

Single-Stage, 13 SEER to 16 SEER models. This is their basic line, and in our opinion, the one to have. They are basic, hardy and reliable.

American Standard Gold Series Air Conditioner

Multi-Stage Compressor, 17-18 SEER model. This is their mid-grade line, and they only offer one unit in it, the Gold 17, which sounds like a Rebel callsign from Star Wars. It offers higher-efficiency than the Silver Series, with a multi-stage compressor.

American Standard Platinum Series Air Conditioners

Variable-Speed Compressor, 18 & 20 SEER models. This is their top-of-the-line air conditioner line. Platinum 20 Series offers AccuComfort technology, which constantly varies the efficiency of the unit to meet your needs. A nice feature, but in our not-so-humble opinion, it is unnecessary, and expensive when it needs to be fixed.
