Rheem Water Heater Age

Rheem water heater’s serial number is the key to figuring out the age of your water heater. Since the date of the manufacturer isn’t always straightforward, we came up with a handy guide to help you decode your Rheem water heater’s serial number.

It can be hard to know how long your water heater will last. Depending on the model and the fuel source, a water heater could last anywhere from 8 to 20 years. Standard electric water heaters usually last between 10 and 15 years.

If you don’t know how old your current unit is, you should check to see if it’s time to get a new one. It’s a good idea to get ready before your water heater breaks down, which can be inconvenient or even disastrous.

How do you determine the age of a Rheem water heater?

You can determine the age of your Rheem water heater by decoding the serial number. It is a ten digits code that can be found on the product data plate.

Rheem tankless water heater serial number is located on the inside (right side) of the heater body. For the Rheem heat pump water heater, the serial number is located on a label on the upper left side of the system.

How do you read the serial number on a Rheem water heater?

Some companies, like Rheem, made it easy by putting the month and year in the first four numbers of the serial number. Here’s an example of a Rheem water heater serial number and how to read it.

Style 1

The first 2 digits are the month, and digits 3-4 are the year.

Style 2

The 2nd and 3rd digits are the weeks of the year, and digits 4-5 are the year.

Style 3

The rating plate on the new Rheem water heaters is easy to decode. It has information about the date of manufacture as well as size and capacity. There is also a field shown as MFG. DATE that will make it easier to read the age of the Rheem water heater.
